If you are looking for peace and quiet, the El Anden accommodation, which is located in the small village of La Laja, is the right place for you. Perched on a hillside just outside of San Sebastian, overlooking a green gorge, this typical Canarian country house reflects the islands' unique way of life. This cosy, rustic, but comfortably furnished accommodation with an outside sitting area on La Gomera is located in a hamlet amidst terraced fields and orchards, about 10 km up the winding mountain road from San Sebastian. It combines the peaceful, beautiful green landscape of the Canary Islands with the convenient proximity to the city and its leisure and shopping offerings. The country house El Anden is an excellent base for exploring the area and offers relaxation in the unspoilt nature of La Gomera.
Access to the house from the road is via a stone path that leads through landscaped grounds of date palms, bougainvillea and exotic plants, which open onto a large covered patio. From here the view leads over the gorge to the Garajonay National Park. Extensive hiking trails lead through this humid, subtropical laurel forest.
The nearest restaurant/bar is 6 kilometers away. There is a bus that runs twice a day from San Sebastian, but we recommend hiring a car.
Living and dining area
The living and dining area of the accommodation are connected to a central living room, equipped with comfortable furnishings, the room creates an open, airy atmosphere. The large sofa and armchairs are arranged around a wood stove. Further ahead is the seating area with a table and 4 chairs.
Bedroom and Bathroom
The spacious master bedroom with tiled floors and beautiful wooden furniture faces the front of the gorge. It has a large double bed, fitted wardrobes, chest of drawers, bedside tables and an ensuite bathroom. The house has two bathrooms in total.
The second bedroom on the other side of the house is a small alcove that adjoins the living area. A curtain that can be drawn provides privacy. A separate exit takes you to the terrace. The room has a large pull-out sofa, a closet and an en-suite bathroom with a toilet and sink.
Kitchen
Between the living and dining area is the kitchen with all the necessary utensils including pots and pans, a stove/oven and a large work surface.
